Dyno Tuning
A modified vehicle should have a professional tune to ensure that its engine and other components work together optimally and safely. Modifying a vehicle, such as adding a turbocharger, changing the exhaust system, or altering the fuel system, can affect how the engine runs and its performance characteristics
Get top-notch engine dyno tuning services at Dale’s Motorsport!
Our performance engine builds and modifications often require tuning, and Stratified Automotive Controls is our go-to for reliable and efficient dyno tuning services.
Highly recommended by fellow enthusiasts, Alex and his team have been excellent to work with from our very first tune.
Why should a modified vehicle have a professional tune
A professional tune or some call a “calibration” involves adjusting various parameters, such as fuel injection timing, air/fuel ratios, and ignition timing.
To achieve the desired level of performance while maintaining reliability and drivability.
A professional tuner has the expertise and specialized tools to fine-tune a modified vehicle’s engine.
This can result in better power, improved fuel efficiency, and reduced wear and tear on the engine.
Additionally, a proper tune can help prevent costly engine damage and ensure that the vehicle meets emissions and other legal requirements.
What is a dyno?
A chassis dyno, short for chassis dynamometer, is a device used to measure the power output and performance of a vehicle’s engine. The dyno is essentially a set of rollers that the vehicle is driven onto, which are connected to a measuring device that records various metrics, such as horsepower, torque, and speed.
Chassis dynos are commonly used by automotive enthusiasts, mechanics, and race teams to tune and optimize engines for maximum performance. By measuring the power output of an engine at different RPMs and under various load conditions, it is possible to make adjustments to the engine’s components and settings to improve its performance.
Dyno testing can also help diagnose issues with an engine, such as low power output or uneven power delivery. By measuring the power output of the engine under different conditions, it can be determined which components are performing poorly or not functioning properly.
Chassis dynos are also used for emissions testing, as they can measure the levels of pollutants emitted by the engine under various operating conditions.
There are several types of chassis dynos available, including those with a single roller or multiple rollers, and those that measure only rear-wheel or all-wheel drive vehicles. Some dynos are also equipped with additional sensors and instrumentation, such as air/fuel ratio meters and thermocouples, to provide more detailed information about the engine’s performance.
Overall, a chassis dyno is a valuable tool for anyone looking to improve the performance of their vehicle or diagnose issues with their engine. By measuring the power output of the engine under various conditions, it is possible to make informed decisions about how to optimize and improve the engine’s performance.
Custom Dyno Tuning
is now available Monday-Friday 8AM-6PM at our Cloverdale, BC Canada location on our state-of-the-art Mustang MD150 load controlled 4WD dyno. FWD, RWD and AWD cars can all be loaded!
This is a non-refundable commitment fee required to book dyno time. This fee is deducted from your final bill after the dyno session. If you miss your booking without giving us at least a week notice, you will need to purchase another booking to reschedule.
- A professional calibrator with thousands of hours of experience will be tuning your vehicle.
- Tuning is done over a COBB Accessport (AP), HPTuners, ECUTEK, or standalone ECU (Motec, AEM, Link, Megasquirt). If you have something else, ask us if we support it.
- The tune is refined specifically for your car, your modifications, your gas quality and your goals. We discuss these with you prior to starting the tune
- At the end of your session you will receive a dyno sheet as well as an explanation of the results.
- Starting rate: $800 CAD for 3 hours which includes a preliminary vehicle safety check (tire pressures, oil levels, coolant level, visual inspection)
- Hourly tuning time is: $175 CAD per hour
- Power pulls with no tuning (3 pulls) are: $175 CAD per hour
- Any additional mechanical work if needed (boost leak checks etc) is: $159 CAD per hour
