Why Lifted Vehicle Wheel Alignment Matters
Lifting a truck or SUV changes:
-
Caster
-
Camber
-
Toe angles
-
Steering geometry
-
Suspension travel
-
Track width
-
Tire wear patterns
A standard alignment cannot properly correct these variables.
If your lifted truck feels unstable, wanders, has bump-steer, premature tire wear, or a crooked steering wheel…you need a lifted-vehicle alignment specialist.

Lifted Vehicle Alignment Service FAQ
1. Do lifted vehicles need a special type of wheel alignment?
Yes. Lifts alter caster, camber, toe, and steering geometry. A standard alignment cannot properly correct these angles. Lifted vehicles require a specialized alignment process performed by an experienced technician.
2. Can dealerships properly align lifted trucks or SUVs?
Most dealerships only align stock vehicles and often lack the tools and experience to adjust aftermarket suspension components. Dale’s Auto Service specializes in modified and lifted vehicles.
3. How often should a lifted truck be aligned?
Every 6–12 months, or sooner if you notice pulling, uneven tire wear, wandering, or steering instability. Lifted vehicles require more frequent checks due to increased suspension stress.
4. Can you align a truck with aftermarket upper control arms or long-travel suspension?
Absolutely. We align vehicles with aftermarket suspension daily—including coilovers, UCAs, LCAs, long-travel kits, and adjustable components.
5. Will a proper alignment fix my steering wheel not being centered?
Yes. A properly performed alignment will correct a crooked steering wheel, reduce wandering, and improve stability.

Pre-Alignment Checklist:
Before bringing your car in for alignment, please ensure the following:
- Confirm that the steering and suspension are in safe, proper working condition.
- Check that the front tie rods are not seized, as we do not use heat to free them up.
- Inspect ball joints, bushings, and tie rods for signs of wear or play.
- Ensure bearings are not loose or worn, and there are no leaking struts or shocks.
- Verify the steering box for minor play, and ensure tires are safe for driving.
- The vehicle must be capable of running under its own power.
- If the vehicle underwent restoration, ensure all work has been double-checked by the facility/person responsible. If unsure, book a steering/suspension re-torque before the alignment appointment.
- We will proceed with the alignment once the vehicle passes our inspection
Please note, should any components fail inspection, there will be a charge for the inspection as our technicians invest time in this process. We aim to avoid wasting your time and money by addressing these issues upfront.
Please request a steering and suspension inspection if you do not know the condition of your vehicle.
Thorough inspections and prioritize safety to prevent any future issues.
