Why Richmond Volkswagen Owners Book Alignments With Dale’s Auto Service
A proper alignment isn’t just “setting toe.” Volkswagens have tight handling standards, and small changes in alignment angles can create big differences in tire wear, stability, and braking feel.
A Volkswagen wheel alignment can help fix:
- Vehicle pulling left or right
- Uneven tire wear (inside or outside edge wear)
- Steering wheel off-center
- Vibration at speed (after tires/wheels are confirmed good)
- Poor straight-line stability
- Post-repair alignment needs (after suspension/steering work)
Whether you drive a Golf, GTI, Jetta, Passat, Tiguan, Atlas, Taos, or ID.4, we’ll align your VW to the correct specs and road-test when needed to confirm results.
Our Volkswagen Alignment Process
When you bring your VW in from Richmond, we focus on accuracy and repeatable results:
- Pre-check & tire wear review
- Steering and suspension inspection (worn parts can prevent a true alignment)
- Precision 4-wheel alignment (where applicable)
- Steering wheel centering + straight tracking verification
- Before/after alignment readings (when available)
If we spot worn components (tie rods, control arm bushings, ball joints, etc.), we’ll explain what we found and why it matters—no surprises.
When Should You Get a Volkswagen Wheel Alignment?
Book an alignment if:
- You hit a curb or pothole (very common cause)
- You installed new tires (protect your investment)
- You replaced suspension/steering parts
- You’re seeing abnormal tire wear
- Your VW feels “loose,” wanders, or pulls
Richmond roads, bridges, and potholes can knock alignment out faster than you’d expect—especially on lower-profile VW tire setups.

Pre-Alignment Checklist:
Before bringing your car in for alignment, please ensure the following:
- Confirm that the steering and suspension are in safe, proper working condition.
- Check that the front tie rods are not seized, as we do not use heat to free them up.
- Inspect ball joints, bushings, and tie rods for signs of wear or play.
- Ensure bearings are not loose or worn, and there are no leaking struts or shocks.
- Verify the steering box for minor play, and ensure tires are safe for driving.
- The vehicle must be capable of running under its own power.
- If the vehicle underwent restoration, ensure all work has been double-checked by the facility/person responsible. If unsure, book a steering/suspension re-torque before the alignment appointment.
- We will proceed with the alignment once the vehicle passes our inspection
Please note, should any components fail inspection, there will be a charge for the inspection as our technicians invest time in this process. We aim to avoid wasting your time and money by addressing these issues upfront.
Please request a steering and suspension inspection if you do not know the condition of your vehicle.
Thorough inspections and prioritize safety to prevent any future issues.
