Clutch Repair we near you?

We have served Langley | Surrey since 1989 and many clients come in from all over the Lower Mainland and Greater Vancouver area for Clutch Repair or Service.

When is it time to replace your clutch?

There is no definite time period or distance that a clutch should last, and while some wear out even before they hit the 50,000 km mark, some others last for more than 150,000 km.

Factors that play a role in the wearing out of a clutch include: maintenance, driving style, and terrain. The good news is that there are signs to watch out for that can help establish if a clutch needs to be replaced.

Over time your clutch will eventually wear down and begin to slip, thus preventing you from efficiently shifting gears while you drive. We offer factory replacement clutches, mild upgrades and race applications.

A faulty clutch isn’t really something that you want to drive around with and if your clutch is already slipping increased activity will only make the problem worse until you are unable to shift at all.

When you push your clutch pedal down to the floor, you should not hear any grinding sounds. If you do, there may be a clutch problem.  When you depress the clutch pedal, it should grab close to the top, and the take off should be smooth. If it jerks or chatters, you may want to come in for a clutch inspection.

When do you need a clutch?

Most people know if you smell a burning stink, your clutch may be slipping and needs replacement.  If your engine suddenly revs up when you’re already moving and speeding up, that may be another sign for clutch replacement.

What Kind of Clutch Should I Buy?

The material used to make clutches and related components varies, and different materials are known to offer different benefits. The table below should help you when deciding which alternatives suit you best.

We Don’t Forget About the Flywheel!

If you are replacing your clutch kit, it is the perfect time to take a look at your flywheel, and either replace it, or at least having it machined as the clutch will break-in more efficiently mating with a true surface.

Early clutch failure can result if your flywheel has damage or has warped and you have failed to replace it – there are no warranty on clutches from chattering if the job is not performed properly the first time.

Clutch replacement is a big job especially with the transmission needing to be separated from the engine. This makes it a perfect time for our technicians to examine the state of the flywheel.

If the flywheel needs replacing down the line, it is going to be a much more expensive fix, as the transmission will need to be taken out all over again.  Always keeping cost in mind, we generally recommend replacing the flywheel to eliminate any clutch malfunctioning issues.
