Wheel Alignment FAQ
1) How often should I align my Mercedes?
Every 12 months or 15,000–20,000 km, sooner after suspension/steering work, new tires, or any major impact. Performance or lowered cars may benefit from shorter intervals.
2) Do I need an alignment after new tires or suspension work?
Yes. New tires and any changes (control arms, tie-rods, struts, springs, coilovers, bushings) require alignment to prevent rapid wear and restore handling.
3) Can you align lowered or AMG models?
Absolutely. We set performance specs on request, check clearances, and confirm you’re getting the balance of tire life, grip, and steering feel you want.
4) My steering wheel isn’t centered—will this fix it?
Yes. Centering the wheel is part of a proper 4-wheel alignment along with toe/camber/caster correction and thrust-angle verification.
5) Will you provide a printout?
Yes. You’ll receive before/after alignment specs and straightforward notes on any parts or bushings that may affect results.

Pre-alignment Expectations at Dale’s Auto Service:
Before bringing your vehicle in for a wheel alignment, it’s essential to understand our pre-alignment expectations to ensure a smooth and efficient process. Here’s what you need to know:
1. Safety Check: Whether your car has been worked on by us or another facility, we prioritize safety above all else. We’ll thoroughly inspect the steering and suspension to ensure they’re in proper working condition and safe for operation.
2. Front Tie Rods: We’ll check that the front tie rods are not seized. If they are, we won’t use heat to free them up as it can compromise their integrity. Replacement tie rods are available and inexpensive.
3. Component Wear: It’s crucial that ball joints, bushings, and tie rods show no signs of wear or play. We’ll also check for loose or worn bearings and ensure there are no leaking struts or shocks.
4. Steering Box: Minor play in the steering box is permissible, but excessive wear will need attention.
5. Tire Safety: We’ll inspect the tires to ensure they’re safe for alignment and road use.
6. Vehicle Ability: Your car must be able to run under its own power to undergo alignment.
If your vehicle has undergone restoration, please ensure the facility/person has double-checked their work to avoid any potential issues.
We kindly request booking a steering/suspension re-torque if you’re unsure whether it has been done. This helps streamline the alignment process.
We do charge for inspections, as it takes our technicians’ time. Our aim is to avoid wasting your time and money by addressing any overlooked issues upfront.
Please familiarize yourself with the condition of these components before your appointment. If unsure, ask for a steering and suspension inspection when booking.
At Dale’s Auto Service, we conduct thorough steering/suspension inspections, ensuring we don’t overlook any potential issues. Your safety and satisfaction are our top priorities.
Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to serving you soon!
